Gingrich always says how he now gots Barry Goldwater's torch, this talk comes from a Nancy Reagan quote in which “ she said ‘Just as Barry (Goldwater) gave the torch to Ronny (Ronald Reagan), Ronny (Ronald Reagan) has passed on the torch to Newt (Gingrich).’"
This is of course completely out of context for one thing, as many sources close to Nancy say that the speech wasn't even written by her; also the torch was actually passed to the congress in that year, not just limited to the Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich.
So literally the torch was passed to Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum. The big question is, 'Did any of these people blow their torch out?'.
The answer is yes; as Newt Gingrich and Rich Santorum both have became the establishmentment GOP, as they never voted to balance the budget for real.
The only person who was given the torch who still kept it lit, is Ron Paul. Ron Paul has the only record to be called a conservative, as he never voted to raise the debt limit and always voted to balance the budget; Ron Paul even warned us of the mess we are in right now, 30 years ago.
Still though, Newt Gingrich will say he has Barry Goldwater's torch, but Gingrich spit on Barry Goldwater's torch when he got a chance, and voted for the establishment GOP Candidate, Rockefeller.
This is of course the opposite of Ron Paul as he was a Goldwater Conservative.
Ron Paul is so much of a Goldwater Conservative, that Barry Goldwater Jr. endorsed Ron Paul. This means the true founder of 20th Century Republican Revolution's family is endorsing Ron Paul, who is the only candidate that is starting another GOP Revolution; as all the others are Establishment Candidates.
